An Unforgettable Fusion of Fine Dining and Immersive Theatre

If, like most of the nation, you’ve been obsessed with The Traitors, we’ve got a dining experience that is right up your street. And if you have never seen The Traitors, this is a great place to start. We’re talking about The Imposters Dinner Experience, an event that will have you questioning everything about those around you, in a night of suspense, laughter, fantastic food, and of course, a whole load of treachery.

The Improsters private dinner experience

We were lucky enough to be invited along to this event by Adventure Connections at the magnificent Brighton Pavilion Gatehouse, for an exclusive preview of West End Events’ latest creation. Inspired by The Traitors TV show, it combined immersive entertainment with a dining experience unlike anything we’ve done before. The premise was simple – you have challenenges and over the course of the game, need to try and figure out who among you is a traitor and who is an imposter. It’s not as easy as it sounds!

The Venue

The setting alone for the event was incredible. The Brighton Pavilion Gatehouse, managed exclusively by Adventure Connections, is one of Brighton’s most impressive self-catering houses, sleeping up to 32 guests, and perfectly positioned opposite the Royal Pavilion. Its blend of grand architecture and homely comfort made it an ideal backdrop for a night of mystery and dining.

The Improsters private dinner experience

Popular with group celebrations such as hen parties, stags, family get-togethers and work do’s, the Gatehouse is a super versatile space that effortlessly brings people together. It has a large dining space, plenty of rooms for everyone to sleep, a living area, kitchen, breakfast room and more.

The event began with a drinks reception in the living room, complete with mood lighting, Traitors-inspired decor and a feel of trepidation in the air. It was a great chance to mingle, get to know each other and look out for any clues that might reveal if they would be an imposter or faithful later on!

We were then put into three teams and had to draw an envelope which we needed to keep secret. This disclosed whether we were an imposter or a faithful. I was pleased to draw a ‘faithful’ card as my poker face (or lack thereof) would have given me away in an instant!

Once our fate had been set, it was time to sit down in the equally fantastically dressed dining room and for the evening to really begin…

Drama, Suspense, and So Much Fun

Unlike a traditional dinner, we weren’t simply spectators in this event, we were part of the story. Among “the faithfuls” lurked a hidden imposter (or multiple imposters on some teams) whose identity was revealed through clever clues and lively performances by professional actors from West End Events.

Known for creating unforgettable themed parties across the UK, West End Events has previously brought us Gatsby Balls, James Bond Skyballs, and their ever-popular Murder Mystery nights. With The Imposters, they’ve taken immersive dining to a new level.

I don’t want to give too much away as the trepidation is part of the fun, but there were plenty of games, murders and lies throughout the evening that made for a really fun and different way to spend our time. The pacing was perfect, the acting sharp, and the whole evening balanced tension with laughter, ensuring everyone at the table was fully engaged. My mind on who was the imposter in our team kept changing, and it was perfectly balanced with games, food and time to socalise.

Next Level Dining

Alongside the games, was a delicious three-course meal accompanied by wine, beers and soft drinks. The three-course menu was expertly prepared by Dine Indulge, the UK’s premier private chef service. I started with a Garlic Mushrooms Medley, Pepper & Paprika Cream Sauce accompanied by a Rosemary Ciabatta, before moving onto a main of Roasted Chicken Breast & Pulled Thigh, Mustard & Lemon Gravy with Pancetta Chipolata, Roast New Potatoes, Carrot & Orange Puree, and Sugar Snaps. It was restaurant-quality food brought directly to the table with style and precision, packed with flavour. From the beautifully balanced starters to the indulgent dessert of Treacle Tart with Caramelised Pecan Crust & Clotted Cream, the entire meal was a sensory treat that perfectly complemented the theatrical experience.

Final Thoughts

The Improsters private dinner experience

The evening rounded up with each team guessing who they thought the imposter was, before the real deal made themselves known to the table! It was a spectacular reveal, and great fun! (My guess, unfortunately, was completely incorrect!)

The Imposters Dinner Experience was the perfect mix of food, theatre, and fun. It was an interactive evening that kept everyone laughing, guessing, and fully immersed from start to finish, offering the chance to meet new people and do something different. Between the top-tier catering from Dine Indulge, the charismatic performances by West End Events, and the seamless organisation from Adventure Connections and Office Christmas, it’s an event that sets the bar high for experiential dining.

Whether you’re planning a Christmas party, a team celebration, or just want a night out that’s a little different, this is one experience not to miss.

Book the evening for yourself

The evening was hosted by Adventure Connections, Brighton’s go-to agency for bespoke experiences and luxury group stays. With over 25 years in the events industry, their expertise shows. Everything ran seamlessly, from the dining setup to the dramatic reveals, and the team were all too happy to chat and just make sure it went without a hitch.

Adventure Connections also manages an impressive portfolio of event spaces, including the Brighton Pavilion Gatehouse itself. Backing the event was Office Christmas, the UK’s leading Christmas party agency. So, if you’re looking for an unforgettable festive party this year, Office Christmas should be your first stop. You’ll be left feeling well fed, with new contacts, and a suspicion that no-one is ever quite what they seem…!

The Imposters private dining experience was just a sneak peek of the Imposters Christmas party experience that will take place at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in London on the 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th December. Tickets are from £125+VAT per person and perfect for groups of 15+ people.

Brighton is a city where everyone is always busy. There’s always somewhere to be, people to see and things to do. And if you want to grab something to eat, you don’t always have the time to sit through a long restaurant meal – yet you don’t want to grab a quick burger to-go either. Which is why when we heard Roti King had opened in Brighton, we couldn’t wait to head down for ourselves. The first branch of the super popular Malaysian street food restaurant to open beyond the capital, it brings Roti King’s coveted Malaysian flavours to the city’s thriving independent food scene.

I head down on a balmy summer evening, the kind in Brighton where you can smell the sea air and outside spaces are packed with people making the most of the sun.

Large, floor-to-ceiling windows adorn the whole front of the restaurant, allowing plenty of natural light to flood in. There is bar-style seating at the window, a large shared table in the middle and smaller tables peppered throughout if you want a bit more privacy. A large open kitchen dominates the space, where you can watch roti being hand-stretched and cooked to order and really whet your appetite for what’s to come.

My friend and I sit down at one of the tables at the back – it’s busy for a weeknight, the atmosphere is buzzing and the air fragrant with a myriad of spices and sizzling meat. A mural adorns the wall and the rest of the decor is very industrial with concrete walls, leather chairs and wooden tables. We sip on canned cocktails as we peruse the menu, the steady hum of chatter all around us as people tuck into roti and catch up on their days.

Roti King Brighton restaurant review

Since launching in Euston, Roti King has built a devoted following for its freshly made roti canai, rich curries and bold Malaysian flavours. The move to Brighton feels like an effortless one, with the city’s rich foodie scene and diverse culture.

Founder and Head Chef Sugen Gopal said of the opening: “Brighton has always had a special place in my heart—there’s an energy to the city that makes it one of my favourite places to eat out in the UK. The Lanes, with its independent spirit and incredible food culture, feels like the perfect home for Roti King outside of London. I can’t wait to share our food with such a passionate and knowledgeable community.”

The menu is varied without being overwhelming, however it’s still difficult to pick between the dishes on offer as everything sounds utterly delicious. It’s recommended to dine family-style here and they bring the dishes out when they’re ready as opposed to a rigid structure. This means it all comes out piping hot and fresh from the kitchen that’s located just a mere couple of metres away.

The menu is split up into roti, noodles & rice, sides & sharers, drinks and desserts. Each roti canai comes with two pieces of roti served with a choice of kari.

As mentioned, we were sharing our dishes, so we went for the spinach & cheese murtabak, a beef rendang, a nasi goreng with a friend egg, and an ayam goreng berempah which is a Malaysian fried chicken. We definitely ordered a little more than we needed but there were no regrets! Every dish was cooked perfectly, piping hot and packed a punch with flavour. It tasted fresh, portion sizes were just right and the accompanying sides ideal. Prices are super reasonable too, with the murtabak costing £10.50, the beef rendang £12.95 and the nasi goreng £11.50. You can easily eat a proper meal here with a wine or beer and spend less than £20.

Roti King is a much-needed breath of fresh air in Brighton and definitely lives up to the hype of its London counterparts. It’s a place where you can head for a quick bite after a long day in the office, a social meal with friends, or a date night with your other half. It’s relaxing, well-located and you know you’re going to get really, really good food. There’s no fuss and frills, just street-food served as it’s supposed to be, in a setting that draws you in and makes it hard to leave.

You can’t reserve a table at Roti King, so just head on down for yourself and grab a table. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed. And if you have to wait? It’s well worth it.

For a relatively small town, Lewes boasts an impressive range of independent dining options. From cosy pubs and pizzerias to vibrant Thai and Indian eateries – and as of last week, there’s a new addition that’s already making waves: a Japanese restaurant that’s not to be missed, Haru Izakaya Lewes.

Located just up from the station on the site where Fork used to be, it’s a spot that feels as though it was always meant to be a Japanese. The decor of Haru Izakaya Lewes is minimalist and relaxing with orange tiled floors and sleek wood-panelled walls. There a counter top where you can dine and watch the chefs hard at work, or a range of tables for both couples or larger groups. A terrace at the back begs for languid summer evenings spent soaking up the last of the suns rays while sipping on a glass of Sake and picking at a big bowl of tempura vegetables.

It’s a Sunday night when we visit yet the restaurant is busy and the atmosphere is buzzing with the kind of low-key hum that signals a local favourite in the making.

Staff are friendly and welcoming and we’re seated at a table by the window. Light floods in and it’s a beautiful spot to both watch the happenings of the kitchen and also passers-by outside. Japanese dining culture places a strong emphasis on sharing plates, especially in izakayas, informal pub-restaurants known for their flavourful small dishes shared among friends. That spirit is alive and well at Haru Izakaya Lewes. The menu is built around shareable dishes such as small plates, salads, tempura, yakitori and kasiyuki. There are then a range of rice and noodle dishes, uramaki rolls and sushi.

It’s recommended we pick 2-3 dishes each to share between us and see how we get on. We order a bottle of rose which is promptly brought over while be try and make our decision. With not only a tantalising array of choices on the menu, but also the scents of the open kitchen wafting over to us it’s no mean feat!

Drinks wise there is a great selection including Japanese beers Asahi and Kirin, wines, house cocktails, Japanese spirits, Sake, teas (including bubble tea) and a range of soft drinks.

We eventually settle on prawn and vegetable tempura, Karaage chicken, chicken yakitori and Angus beef tataki. Dishes are brought out as they’re made so everything is fresh and it laces the meal out nicely. Flavour is the name of the game here and I’m impressed in how simply delicious everything is.

The Angus beef tataki, lightly seared, thin slices of marinated beef served with a citrusy soy is a standout. The karaage chicken which is marinated and covered in batter  and the chicken yakitori skewers are also fantastic.

For mains we share chicken yakisoba – a very generous portion where tender strips of chicken are tangled with crisp vegetables and noodles in a rich, unami sauce. It was tangy, flavoured and divine (and had us fighting for the last bite!)

Haru Izayaka Lewes Review
Chicken Yakisoba with noodles

Dessert wise I opt for the chocolate Dorayaki which is a traditional Japanese desert. Two fluffy pancakes are delivered with a decadent chocolate cream sandwiched in the middle. My partner selects an ice cream bowl for something light to round the meal off.

Prices at Haru Izakaya Lewes are very reasonable and you can easily have a special meal for two with a bottle of wine for under £80. Alternatively, you can pop in for a bowl of fresh curry and a Japanese tea and you’re looking at under £20 per person.

Everything is beautifully prepared and unfussy, perfectly flavoured and great sized portions. It’s somewhere you can come for a date night and spend your time relaxing over a few dishes or you can pop in for a warming bite to eat or your way home from work when you just don’t fancy cooking. The service is fantastic and you can feel their own passion for the restaurant and the care they put into everything they do.

Haru Izakaya is a new player to the Lewes scene but feels like it’s always been here. It offers a warm welcome when you enter and fresh, flavourful food that won’t disappoint. One things for sure, when you dine here once you won’t be able to stay away. Looking for somewhere to stay after dinner? Don’t miss our review of the White Hart Hotel Lewes!

This summer, why should it just be us humans enjoying a seaside bite? With Brighton seafront awash with delicious food trucks and stalls, tails.com are taking it one step further, lanching‘Fetch of The Day’ – the UK’s first beachside food van offering doggie takes on typical British seaside meals. Unveiled on Brighton Beach to surprise dogs and dog-walkers alike, Fetch of The Day provides healthy snacks  for dogs as new research reveals almost half (49 per cent) of owners regularly catch their dog trying to eat their favourite meals when out and about during summertime activities.

Fetch of the Day Brighton

Fetch of The Day allows Brits to feed their dog a variety of delicious treats, that keep their tummies satisfied, whilst contributing to their nutritional needs. The rich-in-protein Barking Burgers are served with a sweet potato bun, high in fibre and packed full of essential vitamins and minerals , whilst the Seaside Salmon Cones will help keep your dog’s coat and teeth in top condition. To finish, dogs can enjoy the refreshing and frozen Watermelon Bites – perfect for a hot, sunny day.

Dr Sean McCormack, Head Vet at tails.com said: “We’re all guilty sometimes of slipping our pups a morsel from our dinner plate, or treating them to something delicious just for being good, but too much human food can be really harmful. First, it’s often laden with fat and sugar, meaning calories galore and from our studies we’ve found that weight gain in dogs will reduce their lifespan.

“A little snack to us might be the same as half a small dog’s daily allowance – it all adds up. Some foods can cause serious harm, inflaming the pancreas or causing toxicity. So lay off the snacks if you want a healthy hound.”

At the seaside alone, a fifth (20 percent) of dog owners reveal they have had their sausage roll eaten by a dog, while 17 per cent have lost out on some fish and chips.

Fetch of the Day Brighton

This new experience also comes complete with Step, Treat, Eat, Repeat steps so dogs of all sizes or height can get their paws on one of these limited edition items. And it’s not just the treats that the dogs can enjoy – pups who visit Fetch of The Day can cool down on a reclining deck chair whilst they tuck into their cones, or re-hydrate in the cooling water bowl corner.

Dr. McCormack added: “at tails.com we know every dog is different, which is why we’re proud to offer food and treats designed to cater to a whole range of different doggie needs.

“Fetch of the Day” provided us with the perfect opportunity to share with people on how to manage their pet’s diet moving forward, making sure they go through life happy and healthy.”

Relax, rejuvenate and refresh at Simply Urban Brighton – the city’s hottest new nail and beauty spot. Offering everything from manicures and pedicures to massages, you’ll find yourself returning time and time again…

Tucked down the busy Lanes in Brighton is a true oasis of calm, a place where you can leave your day to day stresses behind and truly relax. Simply Urban. The sister to the already popular day spa Little Jasmine Therapies, Simply Urban plans to extend on this offering, focusing mainly on mani and pedis, while still having treatment rooms downstairs for different massages and beauty treatments.

As soon as you enter Simply Urban Brighton, you are whisked from the great city streets and to a cool and eclectic vibe. The furniture exudes scandi-vibes with smooth, light wood on the main pieces of furniture and the floor. Jewel tones offer pops of colour in the stools and a bright glow-sign above the main wall says “happy fingers and toes.” It’s a place you feel instantly at ease – the beauticians don’t hide behind surgical-style masks in silence, instead, they welcome you with a herbal tea and you can chat as you relax and receive your treatment.  There are five treatment spaces for manicures and three for pedicures, but we’d recommend booking to secure your spot.

One Broad Street Brighton is a chic, contemporary aparthotel that is reasonably priced, perfectly located and offers all you need for a city break…

Brighton is a city quite unlike any other, with the hustle and bustle of larger cities such as London, but with the escapism of the seafront. You feel the buzz and thrive of a big city, but there is the chance to escape to the calmness of the beach, to buy  big bag of salt and vinegar drenched fish and chips to eat on the beach, or head to the centre to be wined and dined at the highest standard in one of the city’s five star restaurants. You can shop in designer boutiques, or you can explore the nooks and cranny’s of the independent shops in the Lanes. Similarly with accommodation you have so many choices to opt for, but we could recommend no other than One Broad Street Brighton aparthotel for the perfect place to stay. Located right in the heart of the city it is a new type of self-service hotel offering the perks of a Hotel with the chance to make it your own, to explore the beautiful city at your disposal and really create a base for your trip.

One Broad Street Brighton Aparthotel reviewHead to a neat little side door tucked down a side street a stone throw from the pier and the sea life centre. Here you enter in a  previously-told code, head up the stairs to your room in a perfectly kept corridor, enter in your code (that you are sent just before check-in by the Hotel owner) and you are greeted with a beautiful, spacious hub ideal to spend your time in the city. For One Broad Street Brighton Aparthotel provides a base that is ideal for the modern day traveller, with features such as superfast Wifi, smart TV’s, USB charging points, a complimentary touchscreen information tablet (ideal for ordering a Deliveroo in!) as well as mood lighting. The space is cool, contemporary and homey, with large bay windows allowing the warm afternoon sunlight to drench the space.

A large double bed takes pride of place against a wall designed with green foliage and rustic wood features – a nod towards nature and the cool, eco-conscious vibes of Brighton. The main wall of the room is bare brick with old pipes as coat hooks and a retro style side table provides the ideal space to pop your phone and glass of water when you go to bed. The room is filled with interesting design quirks, expertly marrying aesthetic elements with practicality. There is a neat kitchenette tucked to the site with a fridge, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine (much needed after a long day of exploring) and a table for two at the bay window offers front row seats for people watching as you sip a glass of red when the afternoon melts into evening.

One Broad Street Brighton Aparthotel offers a range of room types depending on your needs, from large suites that can sleep four, to deluxe king sea view rooms, standard doubles and micro doubles. Each has kitchenette facilities meaning if you want to cook you can, if you want to order in from Deliveroo you can, and if you want to go and explore Brighton’s foodie scene, it’s easy to do so also.

The bed is deliciously comfortable with a mattress that you sink in to, pillows that cuddle your head and a super soft duvet. Blackout blinds and mood lighting help to craft a great sleep experience and make it hard to drag yourself from the cosy cocoon to visit the sites of the city when you wake.

One Broad Street Brighton is an aparthotel that has it all. It is a relaxed and chilled hub that you can really make your own during your stay, yet it offers all the benefits and “looked after” feel of a Hotel. It allows you to mould your stay to exactly what you want it to be, and to explore Brighton on your own terms. It is situated so close to all the main attractions of the city and so close to the sea you can feel the salty ocean breeze tickle your hair as you let yourself in the door. It is reasonably priced, particularly considering it’s location and there is no better aparthotel you could stay in when visiting Brighton. You can find out more information about One Broad Street Brighton Aparthotel and book your stay here.

Brighton is a brilliant city to live in, with so much to do and see. Here are our top five reasons why…

Brighton is often nicknamed “London by the sea” and it’s easy to see why. Combining the metropolitan busyness of London, with beautiful beaches and the smells of hot fish and chips hanging in the air, it’s an ideal city for commuters and locals alike. Here are five reasons Brighton is a brilliant city to live in…

You are by the sea

Why Brighton is a brilliant place to liveThere’s nothing quite like a summers day in Brighton, the hot paper from a freshly bought fish and chips in hand, the sweet mix of salt and vinegar tinging your nostrils, pebbles crunching underfoot, and the sound of the waves hitting the shore filling your ears. You can go for a paddle, take a boat out, or wander along the pier. It’s a great escape from city life which can sometimes feel claustrophobic – and it’s utterly beautiful too!

The great foodie scene

Isaac at Brighton Why Brighton is a brilliant place to liveAnother reason Brighton is a brilliant city to live in, is that it’s really upgraded its foodie game in recent years, with the opening of a whole host of new restaurants and eateries in and around the city. You can indulge in anything from specialist wine and steak restaurants, to delicious vegan and vegetarian restaurants, a fancy dinner in the Ivy, or a cosy dinner in smaller restaurants such as Isaac At. Whatever you’re looking for, Brighton has it.

You are less than an hour from London

Why Brighton is a brilliant place to liveLondon is great, but if you are looking for somewhere with a bit of a smaller price tag and all the benefits of a city (while being less than an hour by train) Brighton is a perfect alternative. Use the money you’d save on rent to buy a season train ticket to make it easy to still hop between the two cities. There are also easy coach links for one off journeys if you don’t fancy the train.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside

Why Brighton is a brilliant place to liveIn Brighton you are near to so many beautiful countryside hideouts, from Devils Dyke to the Seven Sisters, all not too far away and easily accessible by car or bus. There are so many opportunities to pack a picnic, grab your camera and go and spend a day in the sunshine exploring the various countryside destinations.

There is always something to do

Why Brighton is a brilliant place to liveBrighton is a brilliant city to live in also due to the fact it is a real cultural hub, filled with things to do. You can visit the Pavilion, go wakeboarding in Hove Lagoon, head to one of the various museums, get crafty in the Pottery cafe, show off your golf skills in the glow in the dark golf globalls, take a ride on the i360, or zip line along the seafront. There is always a new festival or event popping up, you’re never short of things to do in Brighton.

What are your top reasons that Brighton is a brilliant city to live in? Let us know in the comments below!

The Flour Pot Kitchen Brighton offers a welcoming dining venue with enviable seafront views and delicious food to match…

If you’re local to the Brighton and Hove area, you might be familiar with the Flour Pot Cafe – a cute, nordic-style bakery tucked away in the lanes. Well now they have taken their offerings beyond rustic breads and delicious bakery good to a licensed restaurant in Kings Road Arches next to the Brighton i360 – The Flour Pot Kitchen Brighton.

Flour Pot Kitchen Brighton (1 of 9)If you are already a Flour Pot fan, then the thoughts of their already delicious menu being extended is enough to get you down there, but if you haven’t heard of them before, the enviable seafront location makes it the perfect spot to try it. I headed down on a cold winters day and there were tables sat on the forecourt complete with faux-fur throws and blankets – the ideal coupling for if you want to snuggle up with a hot chocolate and watch the waves.

Flour Pot Kitchen Brighton (1 of 9)Instead, I pushed open the door and was greeted with a delicious wave of warmth, smells of freshly baked bread and rich, roasted coffee. The restaurant has a host of delicious offerings both for lunch and dinner, ideal as a place for lunch with friends, dinner with your other half on a candle-lit table, or somewhere to relax with a glass of wine at the end of a day. I headed down for lunch and they had a number of hot offerings such as a lamb stew and spiced carrot and coriander soup as well as cold dishes such as sandwiches and muffins. The menu differs slightly from the dinner menu where you can find a mix of small plates and dishes such as pizzas and skillet-cooked dishes. In the summer you can order your food to takeaway for your very own beach picnic.

Flour Pot Kitchen Brighton (1 of 9)Flour Pot Kitchen Brighton (1 of 9)Being a cold wintery day, I was desperate to warm up, so ordered the Flour Pot Kitchen Brighton’s spiced carrot and coriander soup and a hot chocolate to start – though the tantalizing cake selection on the counter was hard to tear myself from. (I made a mental note to leave space for a chocolate brownie.) The hot chocolate was deliciously creamy and extra hot just as I had asked for. The soup was packed with flavour, warming the insides from the very first mouthful – and an ideal winter warmer. It was accompanied with croutons and delicious artisan bread that was lightly toasted so it was delicately crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the in and finished with a soft dusting of flour.

Flour Pot Kitchen BrightonI then moved onto one of their savoury muffins – bacon, cheese and sweetcorn. I can be wary of savoury muffins (why go savoury when you can have double chocolate chip instead?!) But I was pleasantly surprised at just how delicious it was. It was light and fluffy and utterly divine.

Flour Pot Kitchen BrightonTo finish I rounded off by sampling a couple of their cakes – and again, was not disappointed. The hard part here is choosing what to have as each and every choice looks just as good as the last. Be sure to come here hungry! There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options – just let them know if you have any dietary requirements.

Flour Pot Kitchen BrightonFlour Pot Kitchen BrightonThe Flour Pot Kitchen Brighton ticks all the boxes. You can come here to fill your boots with food, for a coffee when it’s cold, or for an ice cold beer when it’s warm. It’s cosy, welcoming and inviting, with the food, drink and location to match. An ideal Brighton eatery no matter the time of day.
