Protein,mate healthy takeaway london

The flagship Protein, mate space has opened in the City of London, introducing a bold, nutrition-forward approach to fast-casual takeaway. At its core is a curated, protein-rich menu that reimagines the traditional grab-and-go offering.

Central to the menu are the Morning and Midday Trays, each featuring a signature protein bake and customisable with a seasonal crunch, dip and salad mix. Each complete tray delivers 30–50 grams of protein, redefining the ‘meal deal’ for today’s busy Londoner.

Inspired by Family, Informed by Experience

Founded by Australian-born Luke Fredberg, Protein, mate was inspired by a simple realisation: his family struggled to consume enough protein to power their busy days. Determined to change that, Luke began crafting these tray bakes in his own kitchen, blending vibrant flavours with everyday convenience.

“Protein is a daily essential, and getting enough shouldn’t feel like a chore,” said Luke Fredberg, Founder of Protein, mate. “Endless chicken and broccoli just wasn’t inspiring, so I began creating delicious, nutrient dense bakes for my family. Friends tried them and kept asking for a way to enjoy them on-the-go. Fast forward 12 months, and the idea has come to life in the heart of the City of London.”

The Smoothies

Complementing the food options are Protein, mate’s signature Cloud Smoothies. Inspired by the Los Angeles’ cult smoothie scene, each blend features a proprietary coconut cloud swirl with a choice of plant-based protein or organic, cold-filtered whey and enhanced with functional ingredients, including adaptogens, probiotics, and antibacterial elements. The result: a decadent yet functional protein boost, crafted for busy professionals on the move.

A Menu Committed to Tasty Recipes and Protein Content

The entire menu was overseen by triple board-certified internal medicine physician Dr. Sanjeet K. Baidwan, ensuring nutritional integrity. The menu avoids ultra-processed ingredients, artificial sweeteners, gums, and fillers, opting instead for real ingredients and thoughtful provisions that sustain its community of ‘mates’ throughout the day while cutting through the noise that often surrounds protein. The brand has also introduced a set of standards, called “Metrics, mate,” underscoring Protein, mate’s commitment to transparency around recipes, ingredients, and protein content.

Powered by Collaboration

Protein, mate has partnered with the UK’s leading food development consultancy, Egg Soldiers, and specialty roaster Ozone Coffee, bringing together expertise in food, nutrition, and exceptional coffee.

“Luke’s vision for Protein, mate redefines fast-casual takeaway, merging nutritional excellence with vibrant, global flavours. We’re excited to help launch this unique and practical concept in London,” said Toph Ford, Director at Egg Soldiers.

With ethically sourced beans and a focus on quality, Ozone provides a coffee experience that enhances and complements Protein, mate’s menu and signature Cloud Smoothies.

Expect the unexpected, menu highlights include nostalgic nods to Aussie classics like a lamington filled with protein cream, blue spirulina eggs, dirty martini dip and a London-exclusive, protein cold foam layered over Ozone coffee.

Shaping the Future of Fast-Casual Takeaway

From a family kitchen to the heart of the City, Protein, mate offers a fresh approach to fast-casual takeaway. By combining convenience with nutrient dense, flavour packed food, it delivers exactly what London needs: smart, satisfying meals for life on-the-move.

With strong backing and a clear expansion strategy, Protein mate is designed to grow beyond its flagship site and bring its protein-forward approach to new areas of the City and other neighbourhoods across London.

What used to be Bunga Bunga in Covent Garden has reopened its doors as Bunga 90 – an immersive celebration of the 1990s – and you have to experience it for yourself. The Drury Lane venue has been reimagined as a multi-sensory playground, offering retro cocktails and draft beers whilst, of course, keeping Bunga’s signature karaoke and pizza.

Bunga 90 Covent Garden

What to expect at Bunga 90

Setting the 90s tone, the ground-floor façade is styled as a nostalgic video rental store with a kaleidoscope of 90s references; shelves lined with VHS tapes, a PlayStation 1 and cardboard cutouts of the era. As the scent of popcorn fills the air guests are invited to step through the PEPSI Time Machine. Inserting the Bunga 90 film VHS commences the transportation to the 90s pulling visitors into a whirlwind journey back to the decade that defined a generation

Bunga 90 Covent Garden

On exiting the video store, guests are submerged in darkness, with just a neon arrow guiding the way before stepping into a recreated 1990s Anglo-American home with family holiday snaps, stone cladding and the unmistakable drone of dial-up. Passing through a teenager’s bedroom filled with fairy lights and teen idol posters guests then reach the vibrant, neon-filled bar, the beating heart of the venue. Here, a wall of old-school TVs plays a non-stop loop of 90s music videos, movie scenes and iconic adverts. The area is separated into zones, with areas dedicated to 90s music, WWF (before it was changed to WWE) and toys of the decade.

What drinks can you expect at Bunga 90?

Bunga 90 Covent Garden

One of Bunga 90’s show-stopping centrepieces is a fully functioning arcade claw machine repurposed for cocktail creation. Guests take control via a joystick and assemble their own custom “Claw Cocktail”, with skilful players picking up a toy on the way, made with Bombay Sapphire gin, Bacardi rum or Grey Goose vodka.

A selection of cocktails will also be served in the shapes of 90s icons, all priced at £13 including:

Britney B*itch from Britney Spears’ head

The Botanist gin, Italicus bergamot liqueur, lychee, raspberry, lime, and Franklin & Sons Rose Lemonade

Fresh Prince served in Will Smith’s head

Patrón Silver tequila, Aperol, cactus; pimento & prickly pear liqueur, hibiscus, lime and Ting Grapefruit

The drinks list also features reinvented 90s classics including Cosmos, Watermelon Margaritas and Appletinis, all priced at £9.

How about the food?

The food menu dials up the indulgence with fully loaded Americana creations. A generous selection of snacks, served in baskets, including deep-fried pizza dough strips in garlic butter and Buttermilk chicken strips with lemon & garlic aioli.

Pizzas, available in 12 (£15) and 20 inches (£25), are available with a myriad of toppings from Pepperoni HotMeat Feast with Sausage, chicken, pepperoni & smoked bacon on a tomato sauce base with mozzarella and the vegetarian and vegan Vegetable Supreme featuring a tomato sauce base with cherry tomatoes, onion, peppers, sweetcorn & mushrooms, topped with mozzarella & basil

And things to do?

Every hour, the toilets transform into London’s smallest ‘M25 style’ warehouse rave, created in partnership with Southern Comfort and Tequila Rose. Think UV lights, smoke and a blast of high octane 90s dance anthems. Elsewhere in the venue, guests can try their hand at a rare Jurassic Park pinball machine, vintage arcade cabinets, and jumbo 90s handheld games.

Karaoke at Bunga 90

Karaoke remains central to the Bunga 90 experience, including in the main bar, whereby those brave enough can perform live in front of 200 strong crowd. The venue features two further private karaoke rooms and two open systems, in the video store and toilet lobby, offering wannabe popstars the opportunity to serenade fellow guests as they fix themselves in the mirror. With everything from Eternal to Aerosmith and Blur to one-hit wonders, the playlist is packed with nostalgia.

The private karaoke rooms are available for up to 10 guests for 90-minute sessions, priced at £99.

Is there Bottomless brunch at Bunga 90?

Yes! Every Saturday, Bunga 90 will be holding a bottomless 90s brunch to a soundtrack of the decade. Guests will receive bottomless jugs of cocktails or beer alongside a 20-inch pizza for every two people. Running weekly from 12pm until 4pm, the brunch will be priced at £45 per person.

When looking for a live music venue in London, look no further, for this opening will be right up your street – Greek Street infact. Greek Street Live is an independent bar and live music venue with daily performances from a rotation of DJs, bands, musicians, and artists. Split over two storeys of one of the street’s historic townhouses, Greek Street Live has proven itself to be so much more than just a bar. It’s a venue designed with fun in mind.

Greek Street Live

As soon as you enter the venue you can’t miss the main stage which is dedicated to the bands – from piano vocalists to 5-piece groups. For those that want a quieter night, or if you can’t find a space right in front of the stage, there are plenty of quieter corners, with screens displaying the live performances – so you won’t miss a beat. Greek Street Live has an understated coolness about it, with low-lighting, dark wooden tables and chairs and painted emerald green walls. It’s easy to settle in for the whole night in one of the nooks of this eclectic joint and sip on a vast array of cocktails as you enjoy songs chosen by the audience.

Request-based live music is what it’s all about here. To have your song played, all you need to do is grab a request slip from the tables or bar, fill in your song choice, and hand it to a member of the team who’ll pass it onto the band.

If you’re looking for something more lowkey, then the bar in the basement is the place to be. With speakeasy, jazz club vibes, this cosy space offers people a much-needed hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the busy Soho streets.

What cocktails are at Greek Street Live?

The bands aren’t the only thing about this venue that hit the right notes. The extensive cocktail menu offers something for everyone and includes the classics (espresso martini, margaritas, negronis), a generous selection of spritz options, as well as a good range of alcohol-free drinks, bubbles and wines.

Greek Street Live

There are tipples to suit every budget too. A highlight is their ‘Wallet-Friendly Wonders’ offers which includes a happy hour from opening until 8pm every night Sunday-Friday and 2-4-1 cocktails available all night long Sunday to Wednesday. They also run bottomless brunches on Saturday and ‘Wine Wednesday’ offers (any bottle of wine at the price of our house wine all night).

How about the food?

Greek Street Live

Greek Street Live doesn’t hold back on the food either. From large plates to nibbles, whether you’re here for an after-work pitstop or a meal out with friends, you won’t leave hungry. The menu screams ‘soul-food’ and we’re here for it. Dishes include small plates such as burrata, buttermilk chicken and salt & pepper squid, or larger plates such as vegan shepherds pie, pan-roasted king prawns and agred sirloin steak.

What is the dress code for Greek Street Live?

Greek Street Live encourages guests to dress smart casual or dress to impress! Not permitted: Flip-flops, gym wear, excessively casual attire.

Our thoughts?

A must-try for music-lovers and for those looking to do more than simply ‘catch up over a drink’. If you’re looking for an activity to ‘wow’ friends who are visiting London, or a speedy after-work drink (that just might turn into a late one), Greek Street Live has it all. It’s an eclectic hub that perfectly amalgamates interactive activities, great tunes, and a food and drink list that strikes a chord with all tastes and preferences.

Greek Street Live is open from Tuesday to Sunday every week, with various opening times depending on the day. Happy hour runs from 5pm – 8pm Tuesday to Friday, 12pm – 2pm and 4pm – 7pm on Saturday and 6pm – 8pm on Sunday.

Bottomless brunch runs every Saturday (£45pp) and includes two hours of fizz, mojitos, or mocktails paired with brunch favourites.

Renowned Mexican restaurant Cavita in Marylebone is excited to introduce El Bar de Cavita – a brand new bar which is a labour of love from Chef Patron Adriana, built around all her favourite things; Margaritas, Mezcal and Mexican Street Food. This new addition to the much-loved restaurant will be a conversion of the previous basement area and will provide a relaxed and welcoming space for drinks in the Marylebone area, opening to the public on Friday 16th February.

Adriana Cavita Marylebone 'El Bar de Cavita

What drinks can I expect at El Bar de Cavita?

Stripping the menu back to basics, El Bar De Cavita will serve exceptional Margaritas, building on the success of the house Margarita upstairs; the Watermelon Margarita. Other drinks include a classic Mezcalita, a Corn Old Fashioned made with Abasolo Mexican Corn Whiskey, agave and angostura whiskey bitters and the traditional fermented and spiced pineapple drink, Tepache

Adriana Cavita Marylebone 'El Bar de Cavita

Alongside cocktails, El Bar De Cavita will serve a huge range of Mexican spirits, from traditional and rare mezcals to lesser-known products such as Sotol – a mezcal adjacent spirit made from the Sotol plant with a similar flavour profile and Koch, a mezcal from the San Baltazar region of Oaxaca. The mezcal offering is geared towards tasting, with a house flight of Adriana’s all-time favourite mezcals on offer.

What food will there be at El Bar de Cavita?

To build on the convivial, welcoming atmosphere of the bar, all food is served ‘street food’ style and is meant to be eaten with your hands. Adriana has crafted the menu to highlight the absolute best dishes from the street stalls where she grew up, which are the perfect accompaniment to mezcal cocktails. Menu highlights include the Chutoro Tostada, with soft tuna belly and avocado on a crisp tostada and Quesabirria, consisting of slow cooked beef shin and crispy fried cheese in a taco with a beef consommé for dipping.

Adriana Cavita Marylebone 'El Bar de Cavita

With 13 years of culinary expertise, including stints at prestigious gastronomic institutions like El Bulli and Pujol, Adriana’s culinary philosophy is rooted in honouring tradition while embracing creativity. Chef Adriana brings her extensive experience and passion for Mexican cuisine to El Bar de Cavita.

Anything else I need to know?

Opening on Friday 16th February, the bar will be open Wednesday through Saturday, from 6pm to 12:30am, with space for 44 seated covers and 60-70 standing. El Bar de Cavita is a high-energy space with vibrant music and a rustic Mexican-inspired design, reminiscent of traditional cantinas, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

Dover Yard, the eagerly anticipated bar at the 1 Hotel Mayfair has now opened, offering visitors an experience driven by the beauty and simplicity of nature with a sustainable and conscious approach.

Dover Yard at 1 Mayfair

What is on the menu at Dover Yard at 1 Mayfair?

Led by Director of Bars, Matteo Carretta (previously of Claridges), the drinks menu at Dover Yard showcases the ‘underdogs’ of classic cocktails with fresh, intricate takes on their formulation. In addition, Dover Yard offers twists on famed classics and a wealth of low and no ABV options to delight even the most discerning palette.

Everything listed on the menu, from ingredients to spirit supplier, has been carefully considered to ensure minimal wastage – with many of the cocktails utilising repurposed ingredients from the neighbouring kitchen at Dovetale, led by Tom Sellers, and across the hotel. Even the menus themselves are responsibly made, crafted from recycled paper and peppered with unused hops.

What are the cocktails at Dover Yard?

Served alongside considered bar snacks, each intriguing cocktail from the split menu, ‘Repurposed Ingredients’ and ‘Seasonal Classics’, tells a story in itself. Cherry Manhattan is constructed using The Macallan 12 Double Oak, finished with a cherry brined in excess Pinot Noir offered from Dovetale.

Breaking Grounds, similar to an Espresso Martini and using Hennessy VS, is infused with treacle, where the oxidised oil develops a deeper, umami flavour. Champagne Martini uses wasted champagne with a concentrate of botanicals to create a completely unique, acidic vermouth to work alongside the guests’ clear spirit of choice. Finished with grape bitters and garnished with a pickled grape, this is Matteo’s exceptional take on a classic.

Rookie Bramble, using Boatyard Double Gin produced and hand labelled in Ireland, lemon sour mash, British honey and sharp Brambleberry, takes creating a positive impact a step further, with 20% of the revenue generated by each cocktail donated to the Tree Council.

For those looking for something with a little less kick, H&H Passion Martini with Sapling Vodka, Una Palma fino, pineapple, passion fruit and egg white offers the fresh tartness of the renowned Pornstar Martini, but with a quarter of the ABV and a superior, more refined flavour.

How about wine and beer?

Wines and beers are as considered as the cocktail list.  Gusbourne English Sparkling leads as the house pour with champagnes from Billecart-Salmon – not often listed in Mayfair – offered as a more traditional option. The wine list has a generous 14 wines by the glass across white and red.  Beers are served only from the bottle with options from Sussex brewery, Hepworth, and London producer, Toast. Toast encompasses Dover Yard’s sustainable ethos entirely, using surplus bread off-cuts to replace the barley element of their beers.

How do I get to Dover Yard at 1 Mayfair?

Dover Yard is a destination bar for hotel guests, the local Mayfair scene and London’s hospitality and creative industries alike, offering guests a welcome refuge from city life, with modern, luxury hospitality at its heart.

Accessible via a newly walkable cut-through between Berkeley Street and Dover Street, Dover Yard is designed to offer both hotel guests and drop-in drinkers a refuge from city life daily from 12pm to 1am.

Situated on the hotel’s glamourous terrace, housed under the famous glass atrium, Champagne Bar at The Landmark London is the ultimate place to be seen in the city

The Landmark London, the five-star Grand Dame Hotel based in Marylebone, has a new addition to its diverse and standout drinking and dining proposition. Part of a major £1.3m refurbishment, the hotel has introduced a brand-new luxury Champagne Bar, situated on its Garden Terrace.

Landmark London Champagne Bar

Upon entering the hotel, you are greeted with a luscious and glamorous landscape – expect towering palm trees and an eight-storey glass atrium designed to impress. Ascending one of the grand staircases to the first floor, visitors are welcomed to the glamourous Champagne Bar, which then vies and succeeds in stealing the show.

Designed by Alex Kravetz Design, the vision was to create a timeless space and visually stunning destination bar. The main bar, housed under an intricate, foliage-lined glasshouse, took inspiration from other iconic and historical grand dame hotels from across the world to create a modern, classic and awe-inspiring space. The furnishings and touches boast rich blues, greens, and golds, emulating a regal-hued, peacock-inspired colour palette.

Guests are welcomed by elegantly dressed hosts and hostesses and are guided to a seat either at the standout golden raised bar or the plush sofas and armchairs spanning the vast terrace. Whilst leafing through the menus, diners will enjoy twinkling piano music from the Winter Garden Restaurant below. A romantic setting, diners can relax under in the dazzling sunlight during the day, or beautiful starry sky at night, visible through the glass atrium ceiling.

What food and drink can I expect at the Landmark London Champagne Bar?

Offering a diverse and luxury range of Champagnes, the space will also serve a light range of seafood-centric small plates, caviar, blinis & classic garnishes, desserts and an impressive High Sea High Tea – a seafood-inspired afternoon tea – available Saturday and Sunday between 1:00pm and 5:00pm, serving fresh seafood sandwiches.

Landmark London Champagne Bar

The Champagne Bar at The Landmark London provides a standout guest experience unlike anything else in London. Offering gilded opulence from entry, a visit to the bar is a must-do when visiting the capital. As well as the Champagne Bar, The Landmark London is also home to the new Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher, which serves a rotating seasonal dinner menu, and The Winter Garden which boasts a modern European menu and one of England’s finest traditional Afternoon Teas.

The Cocktail Club Canary Wharf, a ‘high energy’ bar, located in Cabot Square on the Canary Wharf Estate, has officially launched and we have all the details…

The Cocktail Club, formerly known as London Cocktail Club, has officially launched their 17th site (and 11th in the capital) in Canary Wharf. Located at 9 Cabot Square, the bar is set to bring an injection of the brand’s imitable energy alongside ‘The World’s Hottest Happy Hour’ to the financial district.

London Cocktail Club Canary Wharf

What can I expect from The Cocktail Club Canary Wharf?

The bar’s concept was initially conceived by John James ‘JJ’ Goodman and James Hopkins. JJ was crowned the winner of the World’s Best Bartender award at the 2008 Cocktail World Cup. After the pair won the television competition ‘The Restaurant’ in 2009, they founded their first site on Goodge Street. A further eight sites were opened in London across the following eight years, with their first regional expansion opening in Bristol in 2018.

Goodman and Hopkins set out to create a collection of bars wherein customers could experience best-in-class cocktails within exciting, ‘theatrical’ environments. Positioning themselves as ‘the ultimate party bar’, The Cocktail Club aims to give customers a wild night out.

Each of The Cocktail Club sites are individually designed, differing in decor and venue size. Many sites offer themed Bottomless Brunches, which include bottomless Prosecco, Pornstar Martinis and Brambles, a brunch menu and live entertainment.

What cocktails can I enjoy at The Cocktail Club Canary Wharf?

Signature cocktails on offer will include the ‘Solero Sundae’ with coconut rum, mango, passionfruit and cream, topped with a passionfruit mousse, plus their ‘Southside Royal’ with gin, prosecco and a spray of absinthe mist. The bar’s drinks menu focuses on creating ‘first-class cocktails and exciting serves’ ranging from ‘classy or crazy, sweet or sour and traditional or tropical’. Each cocktail is finished with its own garnish inspired by fire, fruit or sweets.

Following a rapid period of growth after being acquired by Nightcap at the beginning of 2021, The Cocktail Club are continuing to work on their regional expansion, with Canary Wharf being chosen as the next destination for their newest opening.

Is there a happy hour or any offers at The Cocktail Club Canary Wharf?

The Cocktail Club Canary Wharf has a capacity of 100 and a large terrace. The bar will host the ‘World’s Hottest Happy Hour’ 7 days a week, offering 2-4-1 on every drink from 4pm – 7pm. Themed party packages will also be on offer, with themes relating to notable movies within popular culture. Guests are able to book cocktail masterclasses alongside private room and venue hire, as well as an ‘outrageous 00’s Bottomless Brunch’ which will run weekly.

London Cocktail Club Canary Wharf

JJ Goodman, co-founder of The Cocktail Club, said, “We are beyond excited to have launched our latest site in Canary Wharf. This is our 11th site in London and it feels great to bring our mantra, ‘welcome to the party’, to the heart of the financial district. At The Cocktail Club, we’re all about giving our guests a good time. We’re a place where people can really let their hair down. With our swinging lights, throwing ice and bartenders putting on a theatrical show, there’s always something going on. We hope to see everybody join us at our Canary Wharf site soon!
