Anyone who knows me, knows I love a rooftop bar (check out my guide to London’s top rooftop bars here), and Savage Garden’s Pinsa & Spritz bottomless brunch delivers the full London-from-above fantasy. Perched high over the City, it’s the sort of Saturday that starts with a “wow” at the panoramic views and quickly turns into “we’re definitely staying for another spritz.” It’s a spot where as soon as you sit down you just know you’re not going to want to leave, and as soon as you taste the food and drinks, your fate is sealed! Here’s what we thought of Savage Garden Bottomless Brunch.

First impressions

I arrived just after midday and the room was already buzzing with a DJ setting the tempo, sunlight catching the skyline, and those signature blush-pink touches popping against slate greys and glass. It feels glam without being pretentious; you can come with the girls, celebrate a birthday, or just treat yourself to a city day that feels a little extra.

savage garden bottomless brunch

The Concept of Savage Garden Bottomless Brunch (and why it works)

Savage Garden’s Pinsa & Spritz bottomless brunch offers a 90-minute, bottomless take on Roman-style pinsa (lighter, airier than a traditional pizza) paired with a line-up of curated spritzes. The result? A brunch that knocks others out the park. You’ll feast on crispy-edged dough with bold toppings, and sip cocktails designed to refresh rather than knock you out. It’s playful, pacey, and very shareable.

The Food at Savage Garden Pinsa & Spritz Bottomless Brunch

savage garden london rooftop bar

I started with What a Jerk! a delicious meld of jerk-spiced chicken, grilled pineapple, a hit of plantain ketchup and pineapple sriracha, finished with a glossy drizzle of Japanese mayo. It sounds chaotic; it eats like a sunshine holiday. It was light, packed with flavour and the ideal accompaniment to the Spritz cocktails.
The friend I was with opted for Swim Swim—smoked salmon, red onion, crispy capers, dill cream cheese and citrus sour cream. Clean, salty, bright and perfect against the richer pinsas.
For those who was something punchier, Beef Talkin’ Pizza! packs ssamjang-flavoured pulled beef, tenderstem broccoli, creamy burrata and hot-honey chilli. It’s the table favourite for good reason!

Veggies and vegans aren’t sidelined: Say Hello to my Little Artichoke (marinated artichoke, wilted spinach, courgette ribbons, pickled mint) is herby and elegant, while Lean & Green brings crushed chickpeas, turmeric-roasted cauli and melty vegan cheese, offering a dish that’s comforting and delicious.

Sides? Get the truffle parmesan fries (of course), and if you’re feeling indulgent the loaded fries with pulled beef and cheese are unapologetically decadent.

Dessert wise you won’t be disappointed. You must try the Pandan & Coconut (a warm pandan bun with coconut ice cream and raspberry) which was wonderfully aromatic and creamy, while Le Frenchy Toast comes pink, berry-loaded and unapologetically Instagrammable. At £6 extra, it’s an easy yes to share.

The Drinks

savage garden bottomless brunch

Head mixologist Alessandro Lintas has built a spritz list that actually earns its keep. Ciao Bella, a mix of Tokubetsu Sake, green apple and basil liqueurs, elderflower & cucumber, topped with Bottega Prosecco, is crisp, floral and just a touch fruity. If you’re not drinking, Amore De Zio (Lyre’s Amaretti, Everleaf Forest, kombucha) is sophisticated: nutty, botanical, and delicious.

Vibe & service

savage garden bottomless brunch

Music up, mood high, staff on it. Dishes landed quickly, glasses were topped up without chasing. The team were also happy to steer us through the menu so we could try a bit of everything in the 90-minutes. It’s bottomless brunch without the chaos. Where you can savour the moment (and the views) and catch up with friends in a chilled yet refined setting.

Best for

  • Girls’ day out with skyline selfies
  • Birthdays and “we just felt like it” celebrations
  • Pre-afternoon plans in the City (you’ll float out nicely fed and lightly spritzed)

Need to know

  • When: Saturdays, 12:00–15:00 in 90-minute sittings
  • Dietaries: Strong veggie/vegan options
  • Booking: Reservations recommended (it fills fast)

The Seen in the City verdict

Savage Garden has nailed bottomless brunch: views, vibe, and a menu that feels creative without trying too hard. The pinsa is light enough to keep you going, and the spritz list is genuinely interesting (alcoholic and not). Come for the skyline, stay for the jerk-pineapple-hot-honey situation, and leave already planning your next visit.

Smith of Smithfield London review

The Food & Dining Experience at Smiths of Smithfield Restaurant

We are lead through to The Grill, which holds a 1 AA Rosette. There is celebrated for its premium steaks, including a 16oz, 28-day aged Scottish bone-in ribeye that not only tastes divine but is presented beautifully too. The quality of the meat is incredible, with each dish cooked to emphasise tenderness and flavour. The rooftop restaurant offers a lighter menu featuring fresh seafood and an extensive wine list, complemented by panoramic views of the City and St. Paul’s Cathedral – what more could you ask for when dining in the city?

Protein,mate healthy takeaway london

The flagship Protein, mate space has opened in the City of London, introducing a bold, nutrition-forward approach to fast-casual takeaway. At its core is a curated, protein-rich menu that reimagines the traditional grab-and-go offering.

Central to the menu are the Morning and Midday Trays, each featuring a signature protein bake and customisable with a seasonal crunch, dip and salad mix. Each complete tray delivers 30–50 grams of protein, redefining the ‘meal deal’ for today’s busy Londoner.

Inspired by Family, Informed by Experience

Founded by Australian-born Luke Fredberg, Protein, mate was inspired by a simple realisation: his family struggled to consume enough protein to power their busy days. Determined to change that, Luke began crafting these tray bakes in his own kitchen, blending vibrant flavours with everyday convenience.

“Protein is a daily essential, and getting enough shouldn’t feel like a chore,” said Luke Fredberg, Founder of Protein, mate. “Endless chicken and broccoli just wasn’t inspiring, so I began creating delicious, nutrient dense bakes for my family. Friends tried them and kept asking for a way to enjoy them on-the-go. Fast forward 12 months, and the idea has come to life in the heart of the City of London.”

The Smoothies

Complementing the food options are Protein, mate’s signature Cloud Smoothies. Inspired by the Los Angeles’ cult smoothie scene, each blend features a proprietary coconut cloud swirl with a choice of plant-based protein or organic, cold-filtered whey and enhanced with functional ingredients, including adaptogens, probiotics, and antibacterial elements. The result: a decadent yet functional protein boost, crafted for busy professionals on the move.

A Menu Committed to Tasty Recipes and Protein Content

The entire menu was overseen by triple board-certified internal medicine physician Dr. Sanjeet K. Baidwan, ensuring nutritional integrity. The menu avoids ultra-processed ingredients, artificial sweeteners, gums, and fillers, opting instead for real ingredients and thoughtful provisions that sustain its community of ‘mates’ throughout the day while cutting through the noise that often surrounds protein. The brand has also introduced a set of standards, called “Metrics, mate,” underscoring Protein, mate’s commitment to transparency around recipes, ingredients, and protein content.

Powered by Collaboration

Protein, mate has partnered with the UK’s leading food development consultancy, Egg Soldiers, and specialty roaster Ozone Coffee, bringing together expertise in food, nutrition, and exceptional coffee.

“Luke’s vision for Protein, mate redefines fast-casual takeaway, merging nutritional excellence with vibrant, global flavours. We’re excited to help launch this unique and practical concept in London,” said Toph Ford, Director at Egg Soldiers.

With ethically sourced beans and a focus on quality, Ozone provides a coffee experience that enhances and complements Protein, mate’s menu and signature Cloud Smoothies.

Expect the unexpected, menu highlights include nostalgic nods to Aussie classics like a lamington filled with protein cream, blue spirulina eggs, dirty martini dip and a London-exclusive, protein cold foam layered over Ozone coffee.

Shaping the Future of Fast-Casual Takeaway

From a family kitchen to the heart of the City, Protein, mate offers a fresh approach to fast-casual takeaway. By combining convenience with nutrient dense, flavour packed food, it delivers exactly what London needs: smart, satisfying meals for life on-the-move.

With strong backing and a clear expansion strategy, Protein mate is designed to grow beyond its flagship site and bring its protein-forward approach to new areas of the City and other neighbourhoods across London.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants Global and The Clermont Hotel Group are proud to announce the arrival of Hell’s Kitchen to the United Kingdom. Opening in Spring 2026 at Marble Arch’s iconic Cumberland Hotel, this landmark launch marks the beginning of a multi-site partnership between the two powerhouse hospitality groups.

UK Hells kitchen

Inspired by the hit television series created by Michelin starred chef Gordon Ramsay, Hell’s Kitchen brings the drama and energy of the show directly to the table. Gordon Ramsay Restaurants Global has crafted an immersive dining experience that captures the intensity of the series while pairing outstanding food and drink with world class service.

Since debuting its flagship in Las Vegas in 2018, Hell’s Kitchen has become a global favourite with eight locations across the United States and Europe. The restaurants have served over one million Beef Wellingtons and continue to draw fans in destinations including Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Southern California, Atlantic City, Washington D.C., Connecticut, Miami and Ibiza. Now, London will finally join the family in Spring 2026.

Situated in one of London’s most sought-after locations, The Cumberland champions the city’s cultural and music scene, inspired by its rich history of housing music legends. With 900 bedrooms, extensive meeting and event spaces and a newly evolved food, beverage and entertainment offering, the hotel blends comfort and quality while catering to the needs of both leisure and corporate guests.

This iconic setting will provide the perfect stage for the UK’s first Hell’s Kitchen. Guests can expect a striking new restaurant filled with theatre and performance, an open kitchen where the brigade works in full view and a contemporary bar showcasing the latest trends in mixology.

Gordon Ramsay says: “Bringing Hell’s Kitchen to the UK for the first time is an incredible full circle moment. London is where it all began in 1998, so this feels like a real homecoming. Hell’s Kitchen is about fire, theatre and bold flavours, and I can’t wait to share the signature dishes guests love alongside new creations, developed especially for London’s diners.”

The menu at Hell’s Kitchen London will feature a mix of signature favourites and new dishes. Guests can enjoy Ramsay’s celebrated Beef Wellington, Seared Scallops and Lobster Risotto, along with indulgent desserts such as Sticky Toffee Pudding and Apple Butterscotch Cheesecake.

The bar will enhance the experience with expertly crafted cocktails. Highlights include Notes from Gordon, a refreshing blend of Plymouth Dry Gin, green tea, lemongrass, peach and lemon, complete with a personal message from Gordon. An extensive wine list will also be available, showcasing exceptional bottles from across the world to complement the menu.

Pedro da Silva, General Manager at The Cumberland Hotel, says: “We are very proud to be the first venue to welcome Hell’s Kitchen to the UK. We look forward to offering hotel guests and visitors alike a taste of Gordon Ramsay’s iconic dishes, all within our  hotel.”

Hell’s Kitchen at The Cumberland Hotel will open in Spring 2026.

There’s nothing I like more than going out for an Italian. It’s something that you know what you’re getting, but when it’s done well, it really hits the spot. TOZI Battersea is one such space, located in Battersea at the corner of Electric Boulevard with views overlooking the power station. It’s a fantastic location whether you’re after a relaxed lunch with friends, to grab some cicchetti and a glass of wine after work, or for a date night with your other half.

My partner and I head to TOZI Battersea on a Friday afternoon for lunch – something that feels like an extra indulgent way to end the week. We’re all set to tuck into what I’m hoping is a good, hearty Italian. (Spoiler, I was not disappointed!)

The location is perfect, nestled right near the shopping center so you can walk up an appetite, as well as being close to the tube station and bus stops. T

The interior of TOZI Battersea was created by Spanish artist Jaime Hayon and is open, warm and inviting all at once. High ceilings are adorned with modern art, while the open kitchen complete with wood-fired pizza ovens means the restaurant is filled with the mouthwatering scents of freshly-baked dough, basil and juicy tomatoes. Wine splashes into glasses, cocktails shakers clink with ice and there is an overall inviting buzz in the air.  We’re seated at a window booth where we look out to their terrace – ideal for a spritz in the sun – and peruse the menu.

TOZI battersea restaurant review

TOZI translates to ‘a group of friends’ in Italian and this is the perfect place to catch up, feast on their small plates and just relax. To start with we order one of their summer spritz cocktails and a negroni, alongside burrata and calamari to share. The burrata is deliciously creamy, with a side of tangy tomatoes and a sweet balsamic. The calamari fritti is beautifully crisp to the outside with a deliciously soft centre, perfectly accompanied by a squeeze of lemon.

For mains, I choose the napoli pizza which is a beautifully soft dough topped with fior di latte, San Marzano tomatoes, (usually anchovies but I opted out of these), olives and garlic. My partner’s fennel sausage & nduja pizza was also topped with San Marzano tomatoes and fior di latte. Both were utterly delicious, filling without being heavy and flavoured without being overwhelming. There was the perfect topping ratio and it was piping hot with soft melted cheese and a delicate crisp to the crust.

TOZI battersea restaurant review

There are a wide range of pizzas on the menu, from a classic margherita, to lobster, black truffle & funghi or even carbonara – with many others in between. Other options include pasta such as pappardelle with wild boar & pecorino, risotto primavera with asparagus, wild garlic, mind and aged parmesan and cacio e pepe. There are also mains such as grilled sea bass or Veal Milanese and a range of sides on offer including truffle fries with aged parmesan and sprouting broccoli with shallot dressing and chilli.

Every course here is cooked perfectly and right in front of you; it’s well worth having a peek when you’re on your way to the bathrooms to see the magic happen!

We round our meal off with dessert (because it’s rude not to right?) And again, it was perfectly presented and a really decadent end to the experience without being too over the top. We share a chocolate tart alongside a selection of ice creams and sorbets, accompanied by an espresso.

TOZI battersea restaurant review

Every part of the meal at TOZI battersea was perfect, from the atmosphere and decor, to the dishes themselves. When you’re looking for an authentic-style Italian that packs a punch with flavour and has the best cocktails to match, you won’t be disappointed. Book your table now and be sure to sit outside in the sun while you can! Plus, if you want to make the most of your meal, why not book into one of London’s hotels with an infinity pool.

Located a stone throw from the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden, Bancone is the kind of restaurant that you can’t just go to just once. Intimate yet buzzy, it encapsulates all that Italian fare is about – socialising over dishes that are meant to be savoured. Whether you’re planning a pre-theatre dinner, a date night, or a solo treat, Bancone delivers on all fronts.

What Can I Expect At Bancone Covent Garden?

When I recently visited Bancone Covent Garden, I was pleased to find as soon as I entered it felt like I was somewhere special. I was instantly wrapped in the hum of a well-run kitchen, where the atmosphere is electric and delicious smells fill the air. Earthy tones and soft lighting are punctuated by the open-plan cooking area, where fresh pasta is rolled, cut and cooked to order. The star of the show? The curved marble bancone (Italian for “counter”), where diners can perch and watch the chefs in action. I chose to sit on one of these seats because it gives the best views! There’s nothing I like more than seeing the talents of chef whipping up a storm, it somehow makes it taste even better!

Bancone is not your classic candlelit trattoria, this is contemporary Italy, channelled through London style. Think clean lines, brass accents, and an energetic, yet unfussy atmosphere that invites both conversation and culinary appreciation.

The Food: Pasta Perfection

Let’s talk pasta. Because this is what Bancone is known for and rightly so. Looking at the menu it was hard to decide what to order, because everything looked so unbelievably delicious. My partner and I chose to share a couple of starters, the Potato sourdough with Ligurian olive oil and their Burrata with fine beans, confit shallot and wild garlic. Both were delicious and offered a real insight into what was to come. Safe to say we were excited for the mains!

I started with Silk Handkerchiefs which are impossibly delicate sheets of pasta dressed in a rich walnut butter and topped with a glossy confit egg yolk. It’s the dish that earned Bancone viral fame, and for good reason!

My partner opted for the Spicy Pork & ‘Nduja Ragù which our friendly waiter tells us is a popular crowd-pleaser. A marriage of deep tomato richness with a hint of chilli, it doesn’t disappoint!

What sets Bancone apart is the freshness. The dough is made daily, the sauces are refined without being overdone, and the portion sizes are just right for enjoying multiple courses without feeling overwhelmed.

How About Drinks & Desserts?

Drinks wise, expect a well-curated wine list championing both classic Italian regions and lesser-known bottles from smaller producers. There are also a range of beers and cocktails – I recommend the Negroni! For those that don’t drink, there’s a wide selection of soft and alcohol-free options.

For dessert, I opted for the rhubarb and almond cake with white chocolate. It was rich and decadent without being heavy. My partner loves a simple gelato, so his choice of a scoop of home-made gelato rounded the meal off perfectly.

The Experience

What makes Bancone Covent Garden shine isn’t just the food but the experience. Service is thoughtful and knowledgeable without ever feeling pushy. Staff are more than happy to recommend pairings or tweak dishes for dietary preferences, and there’s a genuine warmth in the way the team operates. We had a wonderful time enjoying the food, sipping a cocktail (or two!) and just soaking up the atmosphere.

If you’re after an immersive dining experience, the counter seating is a must. Watching pasta be shaped and plated before your eyes is both calming and captivating, a kind of culinary theatre that pairs perfectly with your first Aperol! One thing is for sure, when you’re looking for an Italian restaurant to be Seen in the City, this is a sure fire choice you won’t regret.

In a world of fast food, convenience meals and air-fryers, it’s refreshing to step back and not only really enjoy a meal, but everything else that comes with it. Food is, after all, a conversation starter, something to be shared and something to be savoured. When we found out about The Bridge Club, a new supper club from chef Jack Pointing, we were too excited to check it out.

Supper clubs are a great reminder of what really good food is and what it’s like to sit back and enjoy the flavours of something prepared with care and love, a whole evening dedicated to eating, drinking and socialising.

The Bridge Club Supper Club

What To Expect From The Bridge Club Supper Club

The Bridge Club’s first supper club was entitled ‘Springtime Obsession’ – a supper club where Jack Ponting aimed to ‘transform the season’s best ingredients into a bold, decadent feast’. And that he did. Having spent a life obsessed with food and working in various restaurants around London, he found that certain styles of food were becoming the preserve of the wealthy and the old.

With this in mind, he founded The Bridge Club. Originally a supper club for fellow chefs to get together and eat mountains of big plates of food but now open to all as a bridge to show you the things we love in British and European food.

An Evening To Be Remembered

The Bridge supper club took place in The Jolly Gardeners in Vauxhall. It’s a cool, arty pub where the windows were thrown open to coax in the first of the spring’s sunshine and a gentle breeze. Tables were pushed together to make longers ones, ideal for socialising while you eat. The crowd was cool, very international and with a range of different ages and backgrounds – this made for great conversation throughout dinner and we had good chats with all the people around us. That’s one thing that’s so great about food, is its universal language of love, care and passion. You can portray so much through the presentation of ingredients on a plate, spark conversation and create common ground.

We took our seats and sipped on a delicious cocktail and sampled a few amuse bouches which were Petit Farcis created from delicate spring vegetables, stuffed and bursting with flavour. The host for the evening was fun and did a great job building anticipation for the dishes to come. The staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was electric yet relaxed, similar to dining with friends where you know a great time is going to be had.

The Bridge Club Supper Club

The Food At The Bridge Club

The first course was Moules Frites with Charred Razor Clams, something that can be hard to get just right. It was the perfect balance of sauce to frites (not too soggy, not too dry) and was accompanied by some lovely in-season mussels and razor clams. These were the best moules-frites we’ve ever tried and set the precedent for the rest of the evening.

The Bridge Club main was braised lamb with batter haggis and mint jelly, combining a deep, slow-roasted richness with a bright, herby lift. The mint sauce in particular cut through this richness for a fantastic balance of flavour and the side of roasted carrots and crushed salt-baked swede was the perfect accompaniment.

The meal was rounded off with a dessert of Eve’s Pudding drizzled with Brandy Butterscotch and a fat scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. The ideal springtime sweet, the cake was comforting, warm and fluffy with a nice crust on top.

The Bridge Club Supper Club

Our Thoughts

Every element of the meal was cooked to perfection and a real testament to the talent of Chef Jack Ponting. Large portions and family-style dining meant there was more than enough to go around and we left feeling utterly stuffed. The evening was fantastic, from the food and drink to the atmosphere and the company. The venue was perfect, the staff helpful and the evening unforgettable. We were left with one question on our lips – can we do it again tomorrow?

The Bridge Club Supper Club is returning on 12th May. This event is a long-awaited collaboration between The Bridge Club and Chef Manifest at The Jolly Gardeners Pub. Doors open at 19.00 with the first course is served at 19:30. You can purchase your tickets below.

Get ready to ‘take a chance’ on the most delightful afternoon tea experience in town, all inspired by Mamma Mia! the musical, as it celebrates its 26th birthday. What a delight it was being a part of the celebration at The Strand Palace Hotel for the launch of this fun afternoon tea in partnership with Mamma Mia! The Musical

Mamma mia afternoon tea strand palace hotel

Located in the centre of London’s West End. We were defiantly spoilt for choice, with a show stopping array of traditional Greek pastries, each inspired by ABBA songs and characters from the musical. Tanya’s Chiquitita Wrap, with yummy tikka marinated chicken. Or if you don’t fancy that how about, Voulez-Vent, a vole Vent filled with poached salmon, and my favourite, the Slipping Through My Fingers, cucumber and tzatziki finger sandwiches. My plus one had a number of allergies and so we flagged these with the wonderful catering team who kindly brought us a list of ingredients for each individual item, and showed us exactly what foods he could eat. He was thrilled with his allergen free selection, ‘Donna’s Dynamo Ball’ and ‘The Winner Takes The Scone’ were two of his particular favourites, as he grinned up at me and said “these are Abbalicious”

Did I mention the tea? They had a variety to choose from from, traditional British teas to Herbal and fruit infusions and my favourite, from the speciality teas -Greek Mountain Tea! This was a herbal tea made from the leaves of the Sideritis plant, which is commonly found in Greece. It was equisetum.

The location for this one of a kind afternoon tea, is located at The Palace Tea Parlour, it’s a charming spot with large round open elegant plush furniture, Pictures of the musical hung on the walls around the room, and of course you could hear the smash hit musical playing softly in the background. The catering team truly added to this experience and were incredibly helpful, especially when they flagged certain foods on the menu. It truly was a wonderful experience and goes hand in hand with a trip to the musical, which is only a 3 minutes Dancing Queen away. Which is exactly what we did as we headed to the show after our afternoon treats!

Mamma mia afternoon tea strand palace hotel

Mamma Mia! Has become the longest running West End Musical of all time, and what made this launch unique, was that it was graced by some of the cast of the show.

It was actually my first trip to see Mamma Mia, so I was super excited to experience it. My plus one had seen the show 7 times and was just as excited seeing it again.  It was such a special evening, filled with amazing food, wonderful company, plenty of laughter and lots of singing and dancing.

MAMMA MIA! celebrated its 25th birthday on 6 April 2024 and is now the third longest running West End musical of all time. Since premiering in London’s West End in 1999, the exhilarating smash-hit has become a global phenomenon, with a staggering 70 million people having seen it worldwide. It has extended its booking period to Saturday 28 March 2026 at London’s Novello Theatre, a Delfont Mackintosh Theatre, with tickets on sale from Friday 4 April.

The Strand Palace Mamma Mia! afternoon tea is available from now through to November 2025, whether you are looking for a pre-theatre treat or seeking a unique afternoon out in the heart of London. From £43 per person, you can book this here. You can book your theatre tickets to see Mamma Mia! here.

With a curated programme of live music, DJs and performances, The Brush’s Cocktail Bar & Lounge is a sure-fire place to spend day-to-night in Shoreditch.

The Interiors at The Brush

The Brush East London

Bathed in natural light, the glass-walled restaurant overlooks Old Street, offering a striking yet inviting setting.  A product of its home, the art’otel London Hoxton, The Brush boasts a coveted collection of artworks across the restaurant and bar. From two bespoke 40-metre murals from local street artist D*Face through to two Banksy artworks that welcome guests to the restaurant via the hotel entrance, The Brush is brimming with beautiful pieces.

More Than a Café

Beyond the restaurant and bar, The Brush is a one-stop destination for food, art and culture lovers. A 60-seat private auditorium plays host to film screenings, artist talks and immersive dining experiences. The adjacent rotating art gallery ensures there’s always something new to discover.

Whether you’re here for a morning espresso, a long lunch, an evening negroni, or a film night with a menu to match, The Brush East London Grand Café is where food, drink, and culture collide.
